Our plains of Beauce have for long carried a well-deserved reputation as excellent dancing grounds. People of the lower paleolithic would already flock here in droves from far away on saturday nights to enjoy themselves with a quickstep or two....

A great ball given at Chécy in April 1429 is still vivid in local memories for the crowds of youngsters who gathered here on this opportunity coming from every corner of the realm and beyond : Beaugency , Chateaudun  in the neighboorhood, and even from England.

It ended in a memorable row on account af a pretty girl from Domremy in Lorraine….
